Do Not Discard the falabada In New
DISCONTINUED
As you may remember, I was fortunate enough to receive a shipment of some new no/low fat treats from Unilver (Breyer's, Popsicle, Klondike, etc). Unfortunately, the -100 degree dry ice was not gentle on the Fat Free Cookies & Cream. The cookie pieces became hard as rocks and made judgement of the ice cream very difficult.
Yesterday after the cleaning, I finally picked up a fresh container. I've been dieing for some good chocolate ice cream all week long. So, we went with the early afternoon ice cream break yesterday. I dig in and am shocked by what I discover. Nope, not more hard frozen chunks, those are fine now. Actually, I'm shocked by the flavor of ice cream itself. Funny, I didn't really notice it last time, the rocks must have distracted me. It totally has that no fat funk to it.
I'm sure I will still eat it, especially since I try not to load up on the high-fat stuff right before bed. Something like this can be a no fat alternative, at least til I pick up a better tasting low-fat alternative.
On Second Scoop: or would that be fourth scoop? anyway, yeah, the fat free funk is unavoidable. It's not awful, but I just can't recommend it. I'll stick with the low-fat Breyer's instead.

Update: This 1/2 Fat flavor has long since been retired as it never made it to the Smooth & Dreamy line.
So, let's get right to the point: Do I have any complaints about this ice cream? Nope! None at all. It's just a straight forward double churned peanut butter with nice flavor and texture. There's a "fudge" swirl to give the peanut butter a tilt towards the chocolaty side. Now I use quotes because on the container you see a dark brown fudge, but in reality it's a light brown swirl that gently blends with the ice cream.

If you've got a hunkerin' for peanut butter, this is the way to go. If you want more of a pb cup vibe, I'm thinking some chocolate syrup would be the way to go. This is a nice flavor, but I've got that urge to add a topping or two.

Update: These were discontinued first, and then the Strawberry. The only ones left are the Chocolate Ones (my review here).
Three crazy days at work means not a whole lot of energy to review. Actually, I've been polishing off the Oreo Klondikes instead, but now they are gone, so what ever shall I do? Shall I suffer? NAH.
I already took some pictures of the New Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Vanilla Caramel Chip Bars from when we tried them two weekends ago, I just need a quick refresher (as in eat another one) and we'll be good to go. Now let's go eat some "extra creamy vanilla light ice cream with caramel morsels and swirls of caramel sauce half-dipped in a rich milk chocolatey coating"
Here's a first look after removing the wrapper. Like the Breyers Triple Chocolate Bars, the Caramel Bar's Chocolate only goes two thirds of the way down to help keep fat and calories to a minimum. You know, if I didn't know better, I'd swear the chocolate dip goes further down then it did on the triple chocolates.
I took a second shot to help show off the caramel swirl pattern. I know I say it a lot, but I'm always hesitant with caramel. It's just so easy to overuse it and ruin the whole treat.
Ok time to head downstairs and grab a fresh one.....
remember, its not a huge treat, so go slow....
thankfully the caramel is not that strong, and the chips are adding just a mild crunch to the whole things (not even a crunch really, just little bits of solid mass). Funny, I remember it striking me as a bit tastier last time. They aren't bad, I just thought there was a bit more of a contrast between the chocolate and the ice cream. Maybe I'm just in a picky mood. There's not much of an aftertaste either, just a faint lingering caramel I guess.
Wow, now I feel guilty for trying to post. I do think it's a shame they cant bring the sat fat down a bit more. You know, I'm not loving this aftertaste at the moment. That's it, I'm giving up for now. Stay tuned for the second scoop... which is technically the third scoop... oh you know what I mean.
